On 15.01.2005 CCHAA Document Centre started functioning as per the joint decision taken by the Custom House Cochin, Cochin Steamer Agents Association and The Cochin Custom House Agents Association to ensure the safety and to e co-ordinate and distributing the shipping bills and other related documents after vessel endorsement. CCHAA set up a separate office and deployed sufficient trained staff and provided other infrastructure facilities to cater the need of the trading community.
At the Documentation centre each CHA/Exporter has a separate earmarked box to keep the shipping bills and other related shipping documents The Document Centre staff collects the Shipping Bills and other related documents from the representatives of the Steamer Agents after checking the same and the same is segregated according to CHA vise and entered in the computer system as per the standard format and entered in register kept at the CCHAA Document Center.
The shipping bills will be handed over to the representative of CHA after identifying the person by verifying the Customs Identity Card and getting due acknowledgement for the same in the register. The CCHAA document centre is doing a commendable service not only for the member of CCHAA but also for the entire exim trade at large. CCHAA is providing the above service free of charge as service to the exim trade.
